Music Education at GIS’s Primary Campus

Posted: 13th October 2023

Music plays a significant role in a child’s development and education. There is no doubt that its benefits are immense. Kumon (The UK’s largest supplementary education provider) attests that ‘there has long been a correlation between musical training and academic success.’ The organisation also adds that ‘the comprehension of musical language can benefit a child’s overall mental development.’

From assessing our students’ behaviour and doing further research into this area, GIS also believes that music:

  • Helps with language development
  • Improves memory
  • Boosts confidence
  • Teaches discipline
  • Allows children to express themselves creatively
  • Positively impacts child’s academic performance

GIS understands the importance of raising a well-rounded child, and to that end – music classes in our Primary Campus begin at the age of five. Our students get the opportunity to play an assorted selection of musical instruments which include the violin, recorder, guitar, piano, and drums.

This choice gives pupils the chance to:

  • Work out over time which instrument they align best with
  •  Develop their musical skills under the guidance of our professional and supportive musical department

At the end of Primary 5 and 6, all our students have an opportunity to take part in the Victoria College Music Exam. This certificate is recognized and accepted globally. It’s also one of the ways your child can set themselves apart during their education and professional journey.
