Celebrating Milestones: Moving Up Day at Greenoak International School

Posted: 22nd March 2024

Moving Up Day marks a significant milestone in the educational journey of our young nursery learners, symbolizing their growth, achievements, and readiness to embrace new challenges.

On that day, the pupils from our Nursery campus are taken to the Primary campus for a short tour around the premises and its facilities. They also participate in short informative sessions tailored to the Primary curriculum. This immersive experience aims at giving them a firsthand feel of what Primary school life will be like, thus fostering excitement and familiarity as they now prepare for the next chapter of their education.

Benefits of Moving Up Day

Moving Up Day offers numerous benefits for our nursery students as they transition to Grade 1.

  • Firstly, it provides a sense of accomplishment and pride, as pupils reflect on their progress and achievements throughout the year. This event reinforces their self-confidence and motivation to continue learning and exploring in the years ahead.
  • Secondly, Moving Up Day serves as a smooth transition to Grade 1, helping students familiarize themselves with the Primary school environment, routines, and expectations. This seamless transition minimizes anxiety and ensures a positive start to their primary school journey.
  • Lastly, Moving Up Day promotes a sense of belonging and community, as pupils, parents, and teachers come together to celebrate this important milestone. It strengthens bonds within the GIS family and fosters a supportive network that will accompany students throughout their academic careers.

Supporting our Parents

At Greenoak International School, we understand that Moving Up Day can be an emotional and challenging time for parents as they witness their children take this significant step towards Grade 1.

Consequently,  our dedicated staff are here to support parents every step of the way, providing guidance, resources, and reassurance throughout the transition process. We offer parent workshops, information sessions, and individual consultations to address any concerns and ensure a smooth transition for both parents and children.

Additionally, our teachers and support staff work closely with parents to create a nurturing and supportive environment that facilitates open communication and collaboration. Together, we empower parents to actively participate in their children’s educational journey and celebrate their achievements every step of the way.
