Art Week at Greenoak Secondary: A Rendition of “Things Fall Apart”

At Greenoak International School, Art Week is a major event, celebrated at both the Primary and Secondary campuses. It brings together students, teachers, and parents to celebrate creativity and culture. Following the successful Art Week at the Primary Campus, the Secondary Campus held their Art Week on 22nd and 23rd June 2024. It was a showcase of remarkable performances which culminated in a spectacular play that left the audience in awe.

The first day of festivities featured dance and musical presentations, with students performing pieces from classical to contemporary, showcasing their exceptional skills and passion. Additionally, students displayed their literary talents through poetic renditions.

The second day showcased an exhibition of students’ artworks and the much-anticipated play, “Things Fall Apart,” adapted from the acclaimed novel by the legendary Nigerian author, Chinua Achebe. The students’ portrayal of Achebe’s masterpiece With meticulous attention to detail, they brought to life the rich cultural heritage and complex characters of the novel, capturing the essence of Achebe’s powerful storytelling.

From the intricate costumes and set designs to the compelling performances by the students, every aspect of the production was executed with aplomb. The audience was transported to the world of “Okonkwo” and the Igbo society, experiencing the triumphs and tragedies that define the story.

We are incredibly proud of our students and their outstanding achievements during the Art Week. Their dedication, hard work, and passion for the arts were evident in every performance.
