Greenoak International School (Secondary) was established in August 2008. It started with about 10 students and now has over 140 students. Greenoak attracts students from all corners of the globe including Asia, Europe, Middle- East and America.
Greenoak operates a hybrid curriculum comprising of the International Middle Year Curriculum (IMYC), The British Curriculum, the Nigerian Curriculum and the American Curriculum. The students write the Checkpoint, BECE, IGCSE, SAT, SSCE (WAEC) at various levels.
Greenoak International School (Secondary) has the following well-equipped facilities:
- Science Laboratories (Physics, Chemistry and Biology)
- Language Studio (for English, French and Spanish)
- ICT- an ICT Laboratory with trace board/interactive whiteboard and internet enabled computers
- Art studio
- Home Economics / Food and Nutrition Laboratory
- Sports- GIS has sports facilities that take care of the physical needs of its students under the tutelage of sports supervisors and coaches.
There is a well stocked library with an experienced Librarian at the helm. The Library accommodates at least 30 students at a time and is open to students every day of the week except on Sundays. Students are allowed to borrow books as often as they need them and they are encouraged to read at least one book a week.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
GIS, PH continues to provide extra curricular activities for students to support academics and balance learning in school. Such activities include sports, musical, art exhibitions as well as drama activities. In addition, brain stimulating indoor games such as chess, scrabble, monopoly, taekwondo, and aerobics are regularly promoted.
Each year, celebrated musical renditions, drama productions and special Sporting Day feature regularly on the School’s program. Healthy competitions are encouraged in all the areas of school life amongst GIS students. The school is an active participant in AISEN programs and competitions. For the past two editions i.e 2010/2011 and 2011/12, GIS has remained the Winner of AISEN Junior mathematics quiz competition.
Other extracurricular activities include: Debates, Quizzes, French Language competition, Poetry, Science and Dance.
GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING
As a co-educational school, there is a functional Career Guidance and Counselling department that gives career choice direction to the students. as well as helping the pupils cope with the strains and stress of adolescence.
