Primary Campus IPC Unit – Special Assembly

On Friday, 25th January 2018, our Grade One Sparrow pupils held a Special Assembly. The theme for the event was, “The History of Jeans”.

In attendance were parents and teachers of GIS.

Short History of Jeans
Jeans are a style of trousers made from denim or dungaree cloth. They were invented by Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss in 1873. Jeans are named after the city of Genoa in Italy, a place where cotton corduroy, called either jean or jeane, was manufactured.

In the 19th century, denim jeans were worn initially as working clothes, then the cloth became a symbol of disobedience and now they are worn as trendy fashion items.
