Life Skills Day: Persistence

As important as your child’s school curricular is, there are many skills that can’t be taught in the classroom, some have to be learnt via experience and through the parents. These skills are often called life lessons, and it is possible for parents/guardians to prepare their children before they step out into the world about such lessons. Like the saying goes- charity begins at home.

Persistence is continuing firmly or obstinately in an opinion or course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.

Persistence is an important life skill to the child because it enables the child to reach goals as well as get desired results.

  • Parents can teach their children persistence by helping them nurture their interests and hobbies, as well as what they find happy doing.
  • Parents should demonstrate how to do an activity, and reward them for any activity done, that way the child is motivated to do more.
  • Parents should teach their children how to take responsibility and how take pride in their work.
